Last Legend [Demo]
So, on a further review of the game (I know, I'm slow ;/) I really started to get into it. What I'd suggest, as it tends to be a pretty decently sized game (and this may seem a bit off the wall, but it could actually work in kind of a neat way) is to break the game up into, literally, 2 or 3 parts. After this, naming the parts "Last Legend 1, Last Legend 2 (etc... if necessary)". Just a suggestion, as it may grab peoples attention all the better. ;)
It's a project where, the more you play it, the more interesting it gets (took me until past the pirates cave to finally get into it). First of all, the battle system is very well balanced (the magic user of the party . Second, the main theme is catchy ;p. And most importantly, because it has the kind of cutscenes and simple story, that would have been completely famous 5-7 years ago in an rpg maker game.
One con in the game, the only one I'm going to get into here (since I'm not much of a critic, the reason being I know how frickin hard just about ANY project is), is that in Benzola when you have to find Melanie it took me literally a half an hour of wandering around the small town and searching in the houses.
Bottom line though, it's a perfect simulation of well rounded "RTP only RPG Game"'s from the past. You just have to make this clearer....if there really is ANY other way to. Maybe on the future description under Last Legend profiles you could label the Genre "Classic RPG Maker Simulation" ;p
I'm sure there are a lot more people that would be willing to try the game out as well, even help. Another idea is that you could get help from people with NPC dialogue, as in letting "trusted rpg makers" add more and more dialogue to the NPCs; even adding new NPCs and cutscenes, sidequests, etc...

I'll compose you music
Oddly enough, I was just about to write a review for last legend. XD
Well anyway, I do like your style of composing a lot, so in the future I may need more composition help in the department of "extra composers", if you wouldn't mind. (a song here and there)
This won't be until at least 2-6 months, though, so... ;/
Either way, your music is great. I highly recommend Erave. ;)

How important is original 'unique' music in an indie game?
1. Not necessarily more enjoyable, unless the melodies repeat. A lot of people think a "memorable melody" comes from just a very good solid melody. From what I've heard, any melody can be memorable, it's just about repeating it throughout the game.
It's exactly as Erave demonstrated.
You can't just see a new character for 1 minute and have him the most memorable likeable character in a story (I'm sure there are exceptions), you have to build your characters.
In the same way, you have to build your melodies up. I never go "oh my god it's that melody again!" the first 30 seconds the first time I've listened to a melody.
Take any melody that you love. That melody is a part of you. A charcter, or a melody have to slowly become a part of you.
I'd say this is about the biggest problem, is when a director is paranoid about having complete control over his or her project/s. I've got a solution though. ;) Every director should know at least a little bit of music theory.
That's true, trance, good point. 0.0 I've been thinking about the same thing recently. A series really starts to take off around it's 3rd sequal it seems. The first time any show comes out it's usually overlooked by most, but after a few seasons the most stubborn people start to see repetition and finally say "alright, already, I'll try it out"

Shadowtext: And given pretty much full creative control over the music in the game, although perhaps with a few guidelines from the Director/Project Lead dealie

Trance: I will say, though, that composers in the amateur and indie gaming sphere can't exactly get major credit. I mean, you can credit them and award them and all that, but unless material comes out on a regular basis, they can't get names like people like Uematsu or Sakimoto or Mitsuda. It takes quantity to get a name (though quality does REALLY help).

If ika is "RPGMaker-anized" than I'm pretty sure it'd be worth it to learn. It'd be like an open source RPG Maker...wouldn't it?
Pandora's Box (complete)
-Before you play the game make sure you put the 4 save files to "dyeymow_scripted" folder, or else you won't be able to save your game.
Go to www.clickteam.com and download 'Install Maker'. You can put all the files into place ahead of time and have it as a single install.
Also, it sounds really interesting, so I'll ahve to download this. :-)

MMORPGs
MMORPGs are evil....
Well it's fun for a WHILE I guess, but usually I end up with my mouse hovering over the add/remove icon...
Took me 30 minutes of coming back and going back, deciding whether I should delete Guild Wars or not. Finally did, though. ;/

E3?
Ah Tokyo Games Show, that's the one I'd rather watch. >.>
Yeah, Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon; Nobuo Uematsu's soundtracks are already out too ;-). At least Blue Dragons is....
I want to hear about Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, and that one with Mozart the composer. ;( I'm really not interested in depressing American FPS crap.
